Yellow Is The Color of Sunrays

In almost every culture yellow represents sunshine, happiness, and warmth. An interesting mix of bubbly and threatening, the color yellow sparks a broad spectrum of emotions. While it can be playful and radiant, yellow can also be unforgiving and foreboding, which makes it a wildly fascinating hue. The many facets of the color yellow bespeak its incredibly impactful spirit.

Did you know that yellow is one of the colors of the year? I really like the way it looks on melanated skin of Black women. I primarily photograph events and such but during the spring and summer months I asked six friends if they would help me venture outside of my comfort zone just a bit. They obliged and what we've created together is a series of photos I call Yellow is the Color of Sunrays, to borrow a lyric from Soul II Soul's 1989 hit "Keep on Movin." This is a preview.
